However, the twist here is that you must find and rescue these characters, recruit anyone you find back to the Castaway Village, and have those willing to accompany you join your party. There are a whopping 26 Castaways for you to save in the Isle of Seiren, with five of them being party members and the rest being survivors that will take shelter at the village.
Chapter 1 Castaways
There are five Castaways in Chapter 1 for you to recruit, with two of them being party members that will help you search for more Castaways and a way off the island. You can find where all of them are located below!
Laxia
Laxia is found on the Nameless Coast moments after you wash up on the Isle of Seiren after the prologue. This is part of the story, so she is unmissable.
Captain Barbaros + Little Paro
After teaming up with Laxia, you will see a silhouette enter Waterdrop Cave and will proceed to follow it in, fighting through a series of enemies and the Byfteriza boss. After defeating the boss, you will exit the cave to see Captain Barbaros standing on the edge of a cliff, looking out at the vast ocean. After this cutscene ends, Captain Barbaros will begin setting up Castaway Village. You will be introduced to Little Paro, which helps deliver crucial information while away from the village. This is part of the main story and is unmissable.
Sahad
With Captain Barbaros making preparations for the village, you and Laxia head back to the Nameless Coast to search for more refugees. As you progress further, you will see a man running from a clear threat, turning out to be the Avalodragil boss. After defeating the boss, Sahad will introduce himself to you and will officially join your party. Due to this being part of the story, you cannot miss recruiting Sahad to your team.
Dogi
Following the Avalodragil encounter and recruiting Sahad to your party, you will head back to Castaway Village, where you will find Dogi. He is unmissable. This will also unlock the following utilities in the village:
- Cooking: Allows you to cook meals after finding recipes.
- Forge: Upgrade your weapons. Can be improved by rescuing Kathleen.
- Trading Post: Trade materials for unique items. Improve by saving Dina.
- Clinic: Craft Liquid and Solid Medicines. Enhanced when rescuing Licht.
- Bulletin Board: Take on quests posted by Castaways to help build your Reputation, strengthen the village, and earn unique items.

Chapter 2 Castaways
Chapter 2 is where you will find the most significant chunk of Castaways, with only one of the eleven total joining your party. However, the vast majority of the Castaways will offer unique additions to the village, allowing you to obtain better gear. You can find where all of them reside below!
Alison
Alison is found in White Sand Cape, just past the Cobalt Crag Landmark. This is part of the main story, so she is unmissable, but she also brings a unique talent to Castaway Village thanks to her excellent tailoring skills.
- Alison's Tailoring: Allows you to obtain unique items, gear, and equipment by trading resources with Alison. The shop can be enhanced by saving her husband, Ed.
Sir Carlan + Kiergaard
Sir Carlan and Kiergaard are found together about halfway through your exploration of the Towering Coral Forest, just after you defeat the Gwaranga (giant crab) and right before the Serpentus boss encounter. Finding them is part of the main storyline, making them unmissable. Kiergaard will also expand your options at the Clinic, allowing you to make more medicines.
Kathleen
Kathleen is located on the Roaring Seashore, accessed by defeating the Clarion boss. You can find her just past the Metavolicalis Landmark. She is a Master Blacksmith that will increase what you can do at the Forge in Castaway Village.
- Kathleen's Forge:Allows you to Synthesize your weapons and craft better Armor.
Sister Nia
Sister Nia is the first missable Castaway in the game. You can first find her when exploring the Great River Valley before seeing her enter the Waterfall Grato cave. Follow her into the cave to see near pick-darkness. Luckily, she is near the entrance, so you can rescue her without needing to use the Glow Stone Adventure Gear to navigate. Sister Nia will introduce herself to you whenever you approach her. Dogi will take her back to the village, allowing you to continue to explore if you so wish, but we recommend avoiding this cave until you have the Glow Ring.
Hummel
Continue exploring the Great River Valley until you discover Hummel, who is unwilling to speak with Laxia or you, essentially brushing your party off. Afterward, you will set up camp for the night and proceed into Beast Hills the next day. Once here, you will bump into Hummel again, who will join your party after a small interaction. Since this is part of the main story, he is unmissable. Hummel will eventually leave your party for a prolonged period of time but will ultimately rejoin in Chapter 3.
Dina
Dina is another unmissable Castaway and is found on Sunrise Beach, the area immediately after the Grugantura boss encounter in the Eroded Valley. As soon as you enter Sunrise Beach, you will see her. Simply approach her to recruit her to the village. Dina is a merchant that will expand your trading capabilities.
- Dina's Trading Post:Allows you to trade Pearls and Jewels, obtain rare items, and much more in Castaway Village.
Reja
Once you make your way to Longhorn Coast, you will encounter the Beehive Landmark and will see a child on the coastline. This is Reja, who states he is looking for someone, meaning you cannot recruit him until you help him. Push forward until you see a climbable ledge on the left and scale it. Once there, you will see a Pikkard munching on an Eggplant Seed, which you will steal from it for whatever reason. Luckily, this prompts the Pikkard to run back to Reja, having him head to Castaway Village after you speak with him. Reja will also set up a place to Farm in the village.
- Farming: Allows you to plant seeds and grow various vegetables for recipes.
Euron
Euron will automatically join your party whenever you enter Schlamm Jungle for the first time, making it impossible to miss him.
Licht
Licht is found in Odd Rock Coast, which becomes available after defeating the Laspisus boss in Schlamm Jungle. You will see him as soon as you enter the area, making him unmissable. Licht is a doctor and will help with medicines at the village.
- Licht's Clinic: Allows you to craft more potent Liquid and Solid Medicines.
Quina
Quina is found on the Nameless Coast near the Castaway Village and joins your party after you defeat the Nameless Slasher boss. This storyline follows immediately after you recruit Licht, so she cannot be missed.

Chapter 3 Castaways
Far fewer Castaways are present in Chapter 3 compared to the previous one, only having three characters to save, with one of them being a party member that will join your team for the long haul. The details on their whereabouts are below!
Ricotta
Succeeding the tragic ending of Chapter 2, you will have to make your way to Mt. Gendarme, where you will encounter the Avalodragil for the third time in the story. After defeating it yet again, it won't go down quietly, prompting Ricotta to show up in a cutscene, putting it to sleep with darts, allowing you to escape, and having her join your party. This quest is unavoidable.
Austin
Austin is a missable Castaway found in the W. Foot of Gendarme, just beyond the Airs Cairn Landmark and before the entrance to the Cavern of the Ancient King. He is surrounded by a pack of wolves you will need to eliminate before speaking with him and ultimately recruiting him back to Castaway Village.
Miralda
Miralda is also a missable Castaway located in Water and Wood Hills. While she can technically be rescued in Chapter 2, it will be easier to do it in Chapter 3, as you will need to remove a large boulder in the area that requires 12 Castaways. You should have more than enough at this point. After removing the boulder, a cutscene will play, introducing you to Miralda and having her join the village. Miralda will also allow you to make juice.
- Miralda's Juice Stand:Miralda will allow you to turn vegetables into Fresh Juice, replenishing your health and removing current effects from other recipes.

Chapter 4 Castaways
If you thought Chapter 3 had very few Castaways, Chapter 4's two findable Castaways would put that to shame. And, to make matters stranger, none of these characters are party members. Nonetheless, let's see where you can find these Castaways!
Thanatos
Thanatos is located at the tail end of the Ruins of Eternia, triggering a cutscene once you're about to exit the area. While he won't join or help the village out until Chapter 5, this is where you more or less recruit him, and since it's part of the main story, it is unavoidable.
Silvia
After finding Thanatos, head back to the Pangaia Plains to find Silvia near a recently used cooking pot in the field. When you approach her, she will challenge your team to a surprisingly challenging battle due to her incredible fighting skills and remarkable sword. Silvia is an optional Castaway and can also be recruited as late as Chapter 5, but we recommend doing it now unless she is far too strong for you (Level 60).

Chapter 5 Castaways
After the lul in Castaways in Chapter 4, Chapter 5 brings four new members on board, one of them being the best and final party member to join you, and some offering more upgrades for the village. Let's go over where you can find them!
Dana
After defeating the Guard of the Sanctuary, Brachion, at the end of Chapter 4, a cutscene will play out, having Dana join your party immediately at the start of Chapter 5. This is part of the main story, making it unavoidable.
Katthew
Katthew is another missable Castaway and is located near the end of the Towal Highway. Before you head into the next area, look for a wall covered in climbable ivy and scale it. Once at the top, you will meet Katthew, recruiting him to the village.
Ed
At some point in Chapter 5, Alison will go into labor, sending you to Nostalgia Cape to obtain her favorite flowers. Head to Nostalgia Cape and past the Ship Graveyard Landmark to find the flowers and trigger a cutscene where you meet Ed and recruit him to the village. Ed is unmissable and is part of the story. He will also join Alison and help her tailor, expanding what's available.
- Alison and Ed's Tailoring: Expands what's available at the shop, including more unique items and better equipment.
Franz
Before moving on to Chapter 6, head to Vista Ridge and make your way to the blockade near the cliffside of the region. You will need 21 people to overcome the blockade, and you should have enough if you've recruited everyone you could up to this point. Franz is optional and can also be rescued in Chapter 6, but we recommend doing this as early as possible.

Chapter 6 Castaways
With all the party members already recruited, only a couple of Castaways remain, with Chapter 6 having two of them. One is a familiar face, while the other is also another familiar face if you have played other installments in the series. Vagueness aside, let's get into how to locate them!
Sir Carlan
Sir Carlan, whom you may remember from the beginning of the game, can be found again as an optional Castaway on Solitude Island at the start of Chapter 6. To get him, you will have to travel to the Nameless Coast, repair his rowboat, and use it to travel to Solitude Island, where you will find and recruit him back to the village.
Griselda
Griselda is another optional Castaway who you will find at Eternity Hill. To access this location, you will need to remove rubble blocking the pathway as Dana in her world, which you can do at any point. After doing that, you will head past the Graves of Ancient Heroes Landmark to see her standing by herself up ahead. Walk up to her to trigger a cutscene and recruit her back to Castaway Village.

Additional Castaways
In addition to all the other Castaways, a few require you to do specific things to get them to come to, or stay at, the village. There are only two Castaways here, but they're rather unique and should be sought out. Let's go over how to do just that!
Shoebill
Shoebill is a stork that you will find in Castaway Village as early as Chapter 2, giving you unique and helpful items for feeding her different types of fish. During Chapter 3, Shoebill will begin helping you out during Raids after it is revealed that she is Ricotta's mentor. While she won't necessarily leave if you don't feed her, you should do so anyways, as the rewards are well worth the effort.
Master Kong
Master Kong is a towering, muscular monkey that is Ricotta's Master, which explains why she possesses the strength and combative Skills she has. To recruit him to the village, you will need to complete the side-quest A Gift For Master, which will have you track him down in specific areas to have one of your party members fight him in a one vs. one battle. If successful, you will earn a unique Skill, and after beating him with all six characters, he will head to Castaway Village.
