Jungkook’s debut solo single racked up over 15 million streams on Spotify on day one – but Taylor Swift remains at the top.

The BTS member’s debut solo single, “Seven,” was released on July 14. The single, featuring Latto, quickly topped iTunes charts around the world. The song debuted #1 on the Spotify Global Top Songs chart with an impressive 15,995,378 streams on day one. Jungkook also became the first male artist from a country to surpass 15 million streams on day one – right behind Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” (17.4 million) and “Lavender Haze” (16.4 million) both have higher first-day streaming records.

Jungkook is also the first solo K-pop artist to debut at #1 on the Spotify Global Top Songs chart. The instrumental version of “Seven” debuted at #65 on the Global Top Songs chart, both higher than his previously released solo tracks “Still With You” (#54) and “My You” (#113). The solo single “Seven” was available in 106 countries at the time of release and reached #1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the US, UK, Canada, Germany and France.

The music video for the single is now very popular on YouTube. It quickly rose to the top of the most popular video charts on YouTube, hitting 10 million views in four hours. As of July 15, it had more than 32.71 million views. Jungkook also participated in Good Morning America’s 2023 summer concert series, performing “Seven” alongside several other tracks.

Jungkook has surpassed Two billion streams across all his credits on Spotify, with just six songs. That was before his debut solo single was released on May 26th. He’s one of only two other K-pop acts (Suga and IU) to have also hit the two billion stream mark across all credits on the platform. Given the impressive charts of his solo single, it will be interesting to see the full first day streams of the full album.
