Madonna is sharing health and tour updates for the first time since she was hospitalized with a bacterial infection that forced her to postpone her ‘Celebration’ tour: “I’m on the road to recovery.”
After contracting a bacterial infection last month that left her in intensive care and forced her to postpone her ‘Celebration’ tour, Madonna took to social media to update fans on her recovery and plans to postpone the tour to keep up to date.
“Thank you for your positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement,” Madonna said wrote. “I am on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.”
The singer admitted that while she didn’t want to disappoint existing ticket holders by postponing the tour, she knew the most important thing was to focus on her health. Madonna also shared the news that the North American leg of the tour, originally scheduled to start this month, is still in the process of being rescheduled, however the European leg will kick off in October as planned.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I didn’t want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour,” she writes. “I also didn’t want to let down the people who have worked tirelessly with me over the past few months to create my show. I hate disappointing anyone.”
“My focus now is on my health and getting stronger and I can assure you that I will be back for you as soon as possible!” The current plan is to postpone the North American portion of the tour and im October in Europe,” she concludes. “I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.”
Madonna had been hospitalized after she was reportedly found unconscious at her home. While she was in intensive care recovering from an unknown bacterial infection, her daughter Lourdes Leon stayed by her side. Madonna is said to have been unconscious all night and spent a few days in intensive care before being transferred to another hospital wing to recover.
