Olivia Rodrigo announces her new album for 2023: OFFALthe follow-up to her debut album, released in 2021, Sour. The album will be released on September 8th, while the first single “Vampire” will be released on June 30th.
Grammy winner Olivia Rodrigo has announced her second album, Offalwill be released September 8th via Geffen Records, the follow-up to their hugely successful 2021 debut, Sour. The first single from the new album, ‘Vampire’, is out this Friday 30th June and is available to pre-save now.
“My second album OFFAL will be released on September 8,” says Rodrigo on her Instagram. “I’m so proud of this record and can’t wait to share it with you all! You can now presave it!”
Rodrigo announced Vampire earlier this month, which she (along with most of the new album) co-wrote with Daniel Nigro, her collaborator Sour. The track will be her first solo single since her debut album. The CD and 7″ single versions of the song will include a demo version as a B-side track.
“For me, this album is about growing pains and figuring out who I am at this point in my life,” he said Rodrigo. “I feel like I grew ten years between the ages of 18 and 20 – it’s been such an intense time of awkwardness and change. I think it’s all just a natural part of growth and hopefully the album reflects that.”
Rodrigo won the 2022 Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance. She then went on tour for a year, speaking to audiences about abortion rights following the overturning of the Supreme Court ruling Roe vs Wade.
Across her many shows and performances throughout the year, Olivia Rodrigo performed “Deja Vu” and “Uptown Girl” with Billy Joel, sang “Torn” with Natalie Imbruglia, inducted Alanis Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and sang “You’ re So Vain” for Carly Simon’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
