Similar to New York, the Primavera Sound Festival has also canceled its first dates due to storm problems.

“Thursday’s Primavera Sound Madrid has been canceled for security reasons given the poor weather forecast,” the organizers said informed participants via social media. “Due to the ongoing severe weather conditions of recent weeks that have affected the pre-production of the festival and given the unfavorable forecast expected for June 9th with severe afternoon thunderstorms, in close consultation and coordination with the Arganda City Council and Local Police del Rey and according to the recommendations of the relevant technical reports, the Primavera Sound Madrid event in the Ciudad del Rock of Arganda del Rey is canceled for security reasons.”

“Primavera Sound Madrid continues and will open its doors on June 9th and 10th at Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey. The opening day tonight at the Civitas Metropolitano also goes ahead, although due to the rain the opening of the doors has been delayed. La Paloma was unable to perform, but the remaining concerts are still on schedule.”

Acts scheduled to appear Thursday include Blur, Halsey, New Order, Darkside, Le Tigre, NxWorries, Turnstile, Central Cee, Drain Gang, Loyle Carner, Pusha T, Rema, Sparks, Alex G, Alison Goldfrapp, Amenra and Black Country New Road, Boris, Built to Spill, Hudson Mohawke, Machine Girl, OFF!, Perfume, PinkPantheress, Self Esteem, Sudan Archives, The Comet is Coming, Yard Act, Blondshell, Isabella Lovestory and more.

Primavera Sound opened the Blur concert and Boiler Room x CUPRA program to people with a Thursday ticket until capacity was reached. They have also made arrangements to allow Thursday ticket holders access to the festival on Friday and Saturday without having to change anything. Should neither of the two additional days be attended, Thursday ticket holders will receive a refund at their point of sale.
