Roger Waters announces a remake of Pink Floyd classic Money ahead of the October 6 release of The Dark Side of the Moon Redux.
Roger Waters has confirmed October 6, 2023 as the release date for The dark side of the moon Redux, an ambitious reinterpretation of the acclaimed album fifty years after Pink Floyd’s original recording. The album’s lead single, Waters’ reinterpretation of “Money,” is available today with an accompanying lyric video.
Recorded with Pink Floyd when Waters was 29 The dark side of the moon has long been celebrated as an extraordinary “multidimensional” meditation on the human experience, the passage of time and the abyss. The opening phrase, “The memoirs of a man in his old age – are the deeds of a man in his prime” announces that Waters will transcend the fifty years since the album’s release to reinterpret his original creation from a new perspective.
Waters’ gritty vocal delivery brings fresh and profound levels to his classic lyrics with a pearl of wry wisdom. The production stripped down Pink Floyd’s psychedelic orchestration to something raw, experimentally imaginative and rich.

In addition to reinterpreting each of the album’s ten original tracks, The dark side of the moon Redux The LP will feature a 13-minute bonus original composition inspired by the re-recording as the final track.
“In a way, the original Dark Side of the Moon feels like an older being’s lament about human existence. But Dave (Gilmour), Rick (Wright), Nick (Mason) and I were so young when we did it and if you look at the world around us it’s clear the message didn’t stick. So I started thinking about what the wisdom of an 80-year-old could bring to a reinterpretation,” Waters said.
“When I first mentioned the idea of a re-recording The dark side of the moon Gus (Seyffert) and Sean (Evans) we all thought I was crazy, but the more we thought about it, the more we thought, “Isn’t that the whole point?”
“I am immensely proud of what we have created, a work that can stand hand-in-hand with the original for half a century.”
