The monthly price for ad-free viewing on Twitch is about to increase. Twitch Turbo goes from $8.99 to $11.99 in the US.

However, the price increase is not limited to the USA, prices for ad-free television are also increasing worldwide. Twitch Turbo subscribers were notified of the price increase via email yesterday. Twitch’s support documents now list the price increase for different countries. Existing subscribers will continue to pay the $8.99 price for three months.

“If you don’t renew within the next three months, your Turbo subscription renewal will end on August 31, but your benefits may extend into September depending on your subscription renewal date,” Twitch told its users. Many users are unhappy that a $3 price increase does not bring new features. Some users are now reporting a price increase of up to 60% their region.

“I paid for Turbo because it was relatively cheap and worked 99% of the time. “A random 60% price increase in my region means I’ll be back to using adblock and throwing a few bucks at the streamers I watch every month,” said one user wrote on reddit about the news of a price increase at Twitch Turbo.

“$11.99/month? Are you crazy? For that price, I can subscribe to YouTube Premium and access a much wider range of content. And to be perfectly honest, the only reason I kept Twitch Turbo was because it was cheaper than the price of two Twitch channel subscriptions. “I won’t renew,” he says other.

The rising cost of subscriptions is causing many people around the world to cut their entertainment budgets. Spotify has decided not to raise prices just yet, although rivals Apple Music and YouTube Premium have.

“We want to increase prices in 2023,” Daniel Ek told investors during the earnings call for the first quarter of 2023. However, he warned that the decision will depend on the ongoing negotiations with the label partners. “When the time is right, we will increase the price and this price increase will be well received because we offer great value to our customers,” continues Ek.
