New data from Pollstar reveals that this summer’s top concerts include country music stars Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and George Strait.
While some artists like Taylor Swift are taking an unconventional approach by post-reporting their tour earnings, most report their grossing data per show, leading Pollstar to uncover a notable trend: country stars are trailing by average grossing at concerts this summer at the top and tickets sold.
Pollstars Global concert pulse Artists ranked by reported average box office earnings over the past three months. At the top of this list is Luke Combs with an average gross of $5.2 million and an average ticket price of $98. Morgan Wallen is behind him with an average gross of $4.5 million and a ticket price averaging $182.
“Combs makes $5.2 million a night (…) while performing to over 53,000 people. Wallen makes almost as much playing in front of half the audience because he asks for more,” he notes BloombergThis is Lucas Shaw. “While Combs charges about $98 a night, Wallen charges more than $180.”
Combs is also beating its ticket sales average, based on data from Pollstar on active touring worldwide for shows performed in the last 30 days. With 52,879 tickets sold across five shows, he’s #3 on this list – behind only country legend George Strait (average 56,125 tickets sold across three shows) and pop singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran (average 65,633 tickets sold across eight shows). ).
