Britney Spears has teamed up with will.i.am for a new collaboration titled Mind Your Business.
The pop star is no stranger to working with the producer. Will was executive producer of her 2013 album. BritneyJeanand was featured on the song “It Should Be Easy”. He was also featured in their song “Big Fat Bass” on the 2011 album Deadly Woman. The collaboration appears to be a connection to the memoir Spears has written about her life, which is due out in October.
will.i.am shared a short video of the new collaboration on Instagram. It begins with the singing of their 2012 collaboration, “Scream & Shout.” The voiceover teases, “You rockin’ with Will.I.Am now and…” with Britney dropping her famous catchphrase, “Britney, bitch.” “Mind your business, bitch!” The singer continues in the short clip.
Online speculation suggests that the new work could be called Mind Your Business, but this has not been officially confirmed. It’s also not clear if this will be a solo release or if the duo will be releasing an entire album together. Britney Spears briefly teamed up with Elton John for the single “Hold Me Closer” last year, making this the pop star’s first musical release since leaving her conservatory.
Spears discusses her thoughts on this agreement “for the first time” in her upcoming memoir. A heated bidding war ensued between several publishers, with Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, acquiring the rights to the book. “I just want my life back,” Spears said in 2021 during a court hearing.
“Britney’s compelling testimony in court shook the world, changed laws and showed her inspiring strength and bravery,” said Jennifer Bergstrom, SVP of Gallery Books, of the memoir. “I have no doubt that her memoir will have a similar impact. We couldn’t be prouder to finally help her tell her story.”
